If you need to solder from underneath but don’t have a tripod, there are other ways to raise your work. You can rest it on (or hang it from) nails or pins stuck in a solder block stood on its edge/side.

You can also place it on a “nest” or coil of binding wire, a stack of coins or balanced on the edges of two soldering blocks.
