Bench Peg Options & Their Uses

The bench peg gives you free access to the object you are working on it from various angles, while providing support. It is used to anchor tools to file, sand, polish & set gemstones into jewellery. Despite the bench peg looking like an ordinary block of wood, it requires skill & strategy to be used to its full capacity. There are various types of faces of a bench peg , mainly flat & angled. Each of these faces have a different use.

There ae a wide variety of bench pegs, used for different purposes & preferences.

C-Clamp Bench Peg Flat Face:

These pegs are easy to attach &/or remove from your workbench, which is great for beginners to practice making jewellery.Ā The top of a bench peg is used the most, for measuring, layouts, marketing, drilling, sawing & piercing. The flat face (top) of the bench pen is used to connect & assemble the item you are working on, into jewellery. Multi-slot & grooved for left OR right-handed users. A great addition to any start-up kit.

Bench Peg Angled Face:

The angled face is where the jeweller holds objects in place for filing, shapingĀ  & carving. The incline of the angled face provides an easier & more comfortable way of repeatedly moving forward & backwards. The angle also assists with seeing your item perfectly.Ā  Adjustable C Clamp for quick, easy mounting on thick OR thin bench tops

Bench Peg & Fixed Holders:

Bench pegs with fixed holders are for more experienced jewellers. These come with metal holders instead of a clamp. Insert the peg into the metal holder & use a screw to tighten it into place. Then bolt it to your workbench. This is the sturdiest for professional jewellers. Bench pegs with a metal holder can be mounted onto your desk. Spare pegs are also available
